Linux Lite 8.0 RC2 Released
#81

Unexpected behaviour when exiting from Lite Updates after an error.

I find it difficult to reproduce an update error realistically - but the test system happened to have a network problem during an update download.  Still investigating exactly what happened network-wise, but the update ended abnormally

Booted as normal, the tray update indicator showed green and advised 118 updates were available.
Clicked 'Configure' and 'Open Lite Updates'. In 'Linux Lite Updates', authenticated and then 'Update Now' as shown below to initiate the downloads.

Early on in the download the wifi went offline and the progress bar stuck. After a while - maybe a minute or so - the GUI reported a problem as shown below.

Clicked to view the log and saved it to try to determine what had happened.

From behaviour in previous versions, at this point, I was half expecting the suggestion to post the logs in the forum, but don't remember seeing it. The lite-updates session ended with an incorrect 'Updates Complete' message in a window titled 'Error Log'

Hope this makes some sense.

I think I make sense of it (blushes).
Because you lost connection, likely a connection type package update started and restarted, hence what you experienced?

Download your free copy of Linux Lite today.

Not sure of the exact trigger.  It seemed that the download stuck and eventually timed out causing the utility to correctly report a failure.  As it went on to report overall success something seems 'off' in the exit logic.

Post-failure testing showed that though network appeared 'connected' it was not working.  A working connection was restored by un-ticking and re-ticking 'Enable WiFi' afterwards.

Running through the update later with a working network still needed the full 118 updates which sort of suggests the failed update was indeed a failure.

Updates normally just work so testing failure handling scenarios of the utility isn't easy.
This was just a chance happening and wouldn't expect the utility handle it specifically.
However ending with a success message seems wrong.

The 'here' is actually a link pointing to: https://www.868212.xyz/forums/showt...p?tid=9509
Don't know why it wasn't rendered correctly.
