Only Prompted for Browser Updates
#1

System Specs
Operating System – Linux LiteLinux Lite 8.0

Memory (RAM)8 GB
StorageSATA SSD (2.5")
Graphics (GPU)Intel HD Graphics 5500 (24) @ 0.90 GHz [Integrated]
Network deviceIntel Wireless 7265
I am running LL 8.0, and for weeks it seems the only updates I get prompted for are for my browsers (FireFox and Brave).  Is anyone else having this issue?  It seems odd because in the same amount of time, my other computer that is still on LL 7.x has been getting all other types of updates.

Sounds odd.  How are you getting prompted about upgrades ?

There should be a typical pattern of routine updates to Linux Lite 8.0.
An example is LibreOffice.

My test system upgraded libreoffice from 26.2.4.2 to 26.2.5.2 on 23rd August.
This was a phased update so it should be a candidate even if not yet implemented on your system.
What version of libreoffice is running on your system ?

I'm notified via the update panel indicator turning green and a popup showing how many updates exist.  A day or two ago, the popup said I had 75 updates.  Before running the update, I saw they were all Firefox related.

This is the information I have on LibreOffice:Version:
Version: 26.2.5.2 (X86_64)
Build ID: 620(Build:2)
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 7.0; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 4:26.2.5.2-0ubuntu0.26.04.1
Calc: threaded

70 plus updates all related to firefox is typical - most will be the locale updates.

To the best of my knowledge, libreoffice 26.2.4.2 first became available as a phased upgrade on 2026-08-21.  If it is on your system, the inference is that you have had non-browser updates in the past week, but maybe did not see it as such.

These updates became available on the GB repositories in the past 24 hours
libnautilus-extension4
nautilus-data
python3-distupgrade
python3-software-properties
software-properties-common
ubuntu-release-upgrade-core

If these are found by your system then I think it is working.

Also to see more direct evidence of what has been happening, open a terminal and run this command
Code:
cat /var/log/dpkg.log
