Hi Team ,
THis is my first post as i join this community today . Installed linux lite yesterday on my Old pc with below specs:

CPU : Intel core 2 duo E7200
RAM : 4 GB
Graphics : NVIDIA geforce 210

I have installed steam yesterday and downloaded cs1.6 in my library . When i launch cs 1.6 , it launches with drag black screen (like a joined blank screen on the right along with cs1.6 page) which is moveable and i am not able to click on the options itself .I only have one monitor . How can i resolve this ?.

I am using cs 1.6 launch options as i was doing fps troubleshooting : -nofbo -w 800 -h 600 -nohltv -fullscreen -no sync

PLease note i have fixed NVIDIA resolution to 1920 *1080 . it is because while i was troubleshooting this issue earlier , launching cs 1.6 in 800*600 was also changing my NVIDIA display configuration and given i have 27inch montitor , it becomes unreadable in 800*600..

Hello there. I am finding it very difficult to install this ancient ninja game that seems to be available for Linux as a .tar file only. It doesn't help that all tutorials I could find mention .tar.gz files exclusively, but of course, I tried to follow them nonetheless (even making changes as I thought appropriate), to no avail (obviously, else I wouldn't be here). I have also tried following Help Manual's instructions, but I always get the message "No such file or directory" upon entering "./configure" instead of a list of dependencies. I feel like this shouldn't be so difficult. There must be some detail I'm overlooking, some stupid thing I am doing wrong.

As an aside, I have looked into tarballs generally, what they are, what they eat, how they reproduce, etc, but unsurprisingly, understanding the issue conceptually isn't enough to find the magic terminal words that will instal my silly little game. I have learned a lot of Linux and open source related stuff since installing Linux Lite over a year ago, but am still a super mega noob, so I'd like to use this as an opportunity to learn a bit more. For instance, I'd like to know what the difference between .tar and .tar.gz files is (I've also come across .taz and tar.xz while looking for tutorials, no idea what these are either).

So much as a hint on where to look for a solution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Cause: This is due to DT_HASH being removed and replaced by DT_GNU_HASH in Glibc 2.34 and higher versions. Though, Most users detected it running Glibc 2.36 versions. This error is for games that require EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) in Steam such as Rogue Company, Mutliversus, Bloodhunt, etc.

Picture of error:

https://www.phoronix.net/image.php?id=20...borked_eac

Solution: Gentoo, Arch, and other non Ubuntu/Debian distros have patched their Linux Operating system to include both DT_HASH and DT_GNU_HASH in "--hash-style=both". I am not a programmer and still learning Linux to know what this means. Just did my research on the issue to help Linux Lite be the first of Ubuntu/Debian distros to resolve this issue since there isn't any fix for them besides using an older version of Glibc less than 2.34 by downgrading to an older version of Linux OS version from distro. Testing, Rolling, and Development versions of distros didn't resolve the issue either when checking to see if their is an updated version of Glibc that may resolve the issue from the Terminal. I hope this can be resolved as stated above or some other way that Linux Lite devs may know. In case more information is needed, check out the following links:
But now, when I press play, game loaded but got black screen only.

Hi guys,

I tried to run old pc games under Wine with some success. For instance the old Pyramids runner, Fred Remake V1.3.1 runs nicely under Wine in Linux Lite. However, Scorched Earth does not start. In fact, besides thinking a little bit (the mouse arrow has this running circle), nothing else happens.
None of the two softwares require installation. They run directly from their folder under Windows XP.
Any suggestion?
Thx

New CPU, System Shutting Down

Hi. Sauri here.

Just recently, a friend of mine was about to dispose some old Socket G2 cpu he got from his pops working on a tech store 5 years ago, an i5-2520m Q17N ES to be exact. He readily gave it to me as he was basically throwing out old stuff from their house since it was piling up like a trash hill.

So I got the cpu for free and was compatible to use on my Acer TM4750, replacing the Pentium B960 on it. Installed it so easily while cleaning the fan of the cpu and applying some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut as paste. Paired with my new PNY SSD, I installed LL 4.8 (since I can't install 5.0 or newer due to UEFI or something) and it worked like a charm.

Here was the thing bothering me instead:
I play Minecraft just to enjoy my free time exploring or building. Now when I launch the game it's just fine. Title screen seems smoother to use, I have no problems navigating the options but when I load a world, it loads then the laptop suddenly just shuts down out of nowhere.

My old trusty laptop has no battery now since it's dead and here I'm thinking that my 65watt brick might be the problem since I remember this happens when power supply can't supply enough power to the system, so I grabbed my 90watt brick and tadaah... still shutting down when a world is loaded.

Probably it was just a minecraft thing so I opened steam and launch Amnesia: TDD. 3 seconds in and not even reaching the title screen, laptop suddenly shuts down... again.

So I tried something that I never thought I would do... install windows 8.1 again on the laptop. And surprise, surprise... minecraft plays normally (though sub 20 fps 'cause no Optifine). So I'm wondering what's up with that? I really don't want to go back to windows due to not being a day or so, just installing the drivers basically and system goes slow and high resource consumption. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong? Something something LL only problem or something? I would highly appreciate any answers to inquiry people since I really love this OS.
