Permissions on a secondary hard drive
Posted by: lintek - Yesterday, 01:39 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (8)

I have a secondary hard drive that all my files live on.  I have read+write access to everything except ONE FOLDER.  I don't get it.  I can't change the permissions either.

Any ideas?

Thanks

  Website forum links not working
Posted by: lintek - Yesterday, 01:37 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - No Replies

When I click the link for this forum (or any other) I get an address that has an extra "/forums" in it like this:

linuxliteos.com/forums/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=13

And here's what I get:

(So I have to manually delete the /forums to get to the link.)
JUST AN FYI

Some windows fail to render properly. Nvidia 470 and GTK
Posted by: Crimson Plasma - 03-29-2026, 02:14 PM - Forum: Video Cards - Replies (4)

Since I recently updated and upgraded my system to Linux Lite 7.8, there has been a problem with Lite Updates. When I open it, it just shows a blank white window (as pictured in the screenshot).

I suspect this issue might be related to the re-write the application received in 7.8 (as mentioned in the Release announcement).

Also, here is a screenshot of what the taskbar now looks like when Lite Updates is open, in case that helps.

Please could you help solve this issue.

Accidentally Deleted folder from secondary drive - HELP!
Posted by: lintek - 03-13-2026, 02:14 PM - Forum: Hard Drives and SSDs - Replies (3)

Not sure if there is any help for this...  Huh

I have a dual-boot system.  Two SSDs  - one Linux Lite, one Linux Mint, and a third HDD for my files.

Like a dummy, I deleted the folder called PICTURES from my HDD.  And it contains ALL of my pictures.  I do have a backup but it is not totally recent, so with it I can retrieve about 98% of my lost files.

I do not see the missing files on the TRASH folder of Linux Lite.

Is there any way to recover them?

THANK YOU

Linux lite 6.0 doesn't work on asus x205ta
Posted by: Dottor Octopus - 02-18-2026, 08:09 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (10)

Hi everyone, I have an Asus X205TA and I wanted to install on it Linux Lite 6.0. I had successfully installed Linux Lite 5.8 on this hardware and it worked, but It Is based on a too old version of ubuntu (20.04lts) and I need a newer version (minimum 22.04lts) because I need libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0. however I completed the installation of Linux lite 6.0 and the installation program showed me "restart now the system" and I clicked on the button, but when my Asus restarted, on the screen was showed UEFI Firmware. After that I selected the boot menu and there were two Ubuntu partitions. The problem was that none of those partitions worked and OS didn't start.
Can someone help me.
P.S. Sorry for my english, I'm not so good with the language.

Canonical is so encouraging to users
Posted by: trinidad - 02-17-2026, 10:04 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (1)

Good grief talk about silliness. Not only insulting to the user base, but what a slick willy way of explaining why... Whenever GUI integration is deprecated or removed nowadays, it is because (and in this case clearly true) of the ongoing churn with Wayland implementation. Whatever marketing whiz came up with this classic explanation (protect dumb users from themselves) i/e basically put the blame for a feature loss on the user is a real ass.

"Ubuntu 26.04 won't ship with the Software & Updates application pre-installed. This is the graphical tool for managing repositories, PPAs, and update settings that is being removed from default desktop builds.

Why? Canonical says some features are too dangerous for regular users. Accidentally disabling the main repository through the GUI breaks system updates and software installation. Enabling proposed or source repositories without understanding them is risky too."

  Cant download ISO
Posted by: lintek - 02-16-2026, 03:13 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (8)

When I try to download the ISO I get a page that says
" Error 1033
Ray ID: 9cedf97f1948f589 • 2026-02-16 15:10:55 UTC
Cloudflare Tunnel error"

So I downloaded the torrent but when I try and verify (using Linux Mint) it says :
"Download the ISO image again. Its checksum does not match."
