  Create Document templates
Posted by: AposChatz382 - 05-08-2022, 12:55 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - No Replies

Its about a question that appeared on #ubuntu:matrix.org
Why are templates on "right click -> create document" empty? New users get pretty confused with this. Maybe there could be added some basic templates for .txt .odf and etc at least.

  Thunderbird mail
Posted by: vint - 05-06-2022, 10:30 PM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

Howdy,
The last update to Thunderbird mail on Linux Lite changed the time format to military time, though I've been on the Thunderbird help forum and there are only a couple of threads on the subject.  I've followed the directions given but still end up with military time, my LL OS is set to civilian time central United States so I don't think that is the issue, has anyone else encountered this problem and if so know a fix?

best regards,
Vint

Trying to get Librewolf to be the default browser...
Posted by: SteveM2020 - 05-06-2022, 02:20 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (4)

I have Librewolf installed in a flatpak. It wasn't asking to be the default browser. I went into config:about and changed a setting there, so now it asks every time it opens, if I want it to be the default browser. I click yes. But when I click on a link, Firefox jumps into action. I looked in the settings, and it says Firefox is my default browser. There's no place to uncheck that setting.

I went to the preferred apps, and put Librewolf in as the default and saved it. It didn't make any difference.

I'm using Linux-lite 5.8.

Tried to add Plank to the startup programs, but it doesn't work
Posted by: SteveM2020 - 05-06-2022, 02:04 PM - Forum: Installing Software - No Replies

I thought it might be a permission problem, so I edited the permissions in /usr/share/applications/plank.desktop to give me ownership instead of root. Didn't make any difference.
Please advise.

  New to Linux
Posted by: chet60 - 05-02-2022, 08:22 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (4)

I starting using Linux 3 months ago, I've used Windows for over 25 years and became fed up with all the changes especially on Windows 10, creating a Microsoft account is just one of them. So far I've used 7 distro's, some were better than others, some had some shortcomings like hardware problems etc. Then I came upon a Linux lite video on you-tube. I liked what I saw so I downloaded it and installed in on an old DELL I have and it works great right out of the box, even on a 15 year old laptop!

So far its been stellar, it found drivers for all the hardware on the laptop and it's quite quick. I had Windows 7 on it originally and it was slow as molasses.
I like that you don't even have to use the Terminal to install anything, but I'am in the process of learning how to use the Terminal.
I will be installing Linux Lite on my main computer very soon.
What I like the most about Linux is that you can customise it in so many ways, it's great!

Thank you Linux Lite team!

I'm a moderator at the Mageia Forum.  I've ran a lot of linux flavors but really liked Mandrake back in the day.  Used to actually work for Mandriva.  Then they changed direction and I've been with Mageia ever since.

I've been hearing about Linux Lite, so downloaded 6.0 RC1.  I must say I'm really impressed.  Just wanted to say you guys are doing a great job!

Keep up the great work,
Stephen G

LL 6.0 RC1 forgot keyboard settings after installation & reboot

Linux Lite 6.0 RC1 forgot keyboard settings after installation & reboot

Linux Lite 6.0 RC1 installs without problems in Virtual Box 6.1.34 on my macbook air (mid 2013).
After reboot I tried to update the installed software but my password was not accepted.
Controlling my password in the text editor show me that the keyboard settings (deutsch, german (macintosh)),
that I configured during the installing process, got lost during the installation.

So, after the first boot, it was necessary to do the right keyboard setting again  :013:

  MS Teams
Posted by: catgrep - 04-30-2022, 03:50 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (1)

I have to suggest removing Teams from the Lite Software manager.  Teams for Linux only works for work or school accounts managed by an organization.  Personal/free accounts have to use the web app in a supported browser.  I jumped through a lot of hoops to learn about this, even the MS support rep I talked to didn't know until he asked some team mates.  It's easy enough to download and install the DEB package from Microsoft if a Linux Lite user has an organization account, but leaving the package in Lite Software is misleading, as anyone may assume that the software is free to use when it is not.
