| ~/local/share/applications/exo-file-manager.desktop wrong application in RC 6.0 |

As the title says, the file (also in /etc/skel) contains the following:
Code: [Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Exec=/usr/bin/lite-updates
Icon=liteupdates
StartupNotify=true
Terminal=false
Categories=Utility;X-XFCE;X-Xfce-Toplevel;
OnlyShowIn=XFCE;
X-XFCE-MimeType=inode/directory;x-scheme-handler/trash;
Name=Install Updates
Comment=Get the latest updates for your computer
This leads to unexpected behavior when a program has a "Open Folder" function. I have renamed this file to lite-updates.desktop; a exo-file-manager.desktop file is already in /usr/share/applications

Hi,
Im new to Linux and I used Linux lite as for its lightweight and have all what I need as a beginner. The only problem I have is that when the system updated, it messed up my windows bootloader and I cannot boot in Windows Anymore.
Is there are way to restore my windows bootloader? I tried to all the steps I can find on the internet but It does not seem to work.
Is there a step by step guide specifiic to Linux lite on accomplishing this.
Thanks in advance

Enabling auto login using the GUI method I used changed the file
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
and put my user name on the line 'autologin-user='
Errors in this file if manually edited can cause lock out.

Sorry about starting a new thread - the option to reply appears to not be working for me.
I don't use auto-login but as an experiment, I tried
Control Panel
Lite Auto Login
Clicked 'Enable Auto Logoin'
Entered password
Accepted the disclaimer
Re-booted and was auto-logged in
Disabled auto login using the same path

I've been trying to enable auto login for hours and it doesn't seem to work.
I perform all steps needed to enable auto login by clicking SYSTEM=>LOGIN SETTINGS=>ENABLE AUTO LOGIN and I get the positive confirmation at the end.
After restart I can see the login screen again. I tried to reinstall lightdm packgace but it didn't help.
Is there a place - the config file - where I can set this manually? How to check if the ENABLE AUTO LOGIN option is realy on or off?

Hello,
I did a quick search and didn’t find any previous posts on Moodle, but found this on a google search:
https://moodle.com/news/moodle-desktop-n...cos-linux/
I will pursue this later today with an older laptop I have running Linus lite 5.0 and another fine running LL 3.8. In the meantime I wondered if more knowledgeable members might have any experience, comments or advice.
Here’s a bit about it and I’m wondering if the desktop is really what my students need and can use:
“In line with our commitment to making Moodle accessible to all our global users who using various operating systems and devices, we are happy to be making Moodle Desktop available for other versions of Windows, macOS and Linux,” said Juan.
“Users of Moodle Desktop can access all the functionalities and experience the same look and feel as with the Moodle Mobile app.”
“This means learners, students, administrators, trainers and educators, of any kind, can still easily access course content and download materials for offline, engage in activities such as quizzes, get notifications, view work and learning progress through the dashboard and much more.”
You can view the compatibility specifications for Moodle Desktop and download it via Moodle downloads.
Basically my situation currently is that the students in my study group in South Africa have older laptops I’ve set up with LL and study material. Three of them have been accepted at universities and until they or I manage to get windows based laptops for their study they will use these current ones in the interim (although I’d love if the LL OS manages to do all they require as I LOVE LL it has proved to be priceless for me causing few if any headaches like other OSs!).
Another question - which I will investigate and play with later too - can the students access outlook (Microsoft 365) on a laptop running LL? I believe this second question is a basic question, but I have just been asked these questions and haven’t had a chance to look into it yet.
Thanks in advance,
Janet
