  password dots
Posted by: johnnybevo - 08-01-2015, 12:45 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (1)

Is there a way to change how the password dots are displayed?
Double them, triple them or not show at all?

[SOLVED] Internal drives show on desktop as removable
Posted by: paul1149 - 08-01-2015, 11:40 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (8)

I've now got my two internal drives (three partitions) automatically mounted and accessible without supplying credentials each time, thanks to the advice in a nearby thread. One detail persists, that the drives are shown on the desktop as Removable devices. That desktop feature is great for devices that are actually removable, such as USB sticks and cameras, but it's undesirable for persistent drives, as they are already in Thunar's tree pane. The drives are NTFS, if that makes a difference. Is there any way to get them recognized as internal devices and off the desktop? I did do a search on this but didn't find anything clear.

Thanks,
Paul

  Screen running and flickering
Posted by: hb - 08-01-2015, 05:05 AM - Forum: Video Cards - Replies (1)

Hi,
I have some hardware related problem, I would appreciate if you could somehow help.
I am using LINUX LITE 2.4 on HP laptop. My problem is that whenever the screen is locked and some time passes (say 20 minutes), the screen light turns off, after this if I try to awake the machine the display starts running here and there, and the corners of the display start appearing at the center, and if I click or do some other activity it runs again, but some how I manage to login and then only when the running applications are closed I am able to see the desktop or the problem goes away. The OS is by default using Intel 5500 graphics card. Please tell what is the problem and what should I do. Thank you!

  Great movie to see...

Don't know how many on this board have seen this but I give this high recommendations. This movie brought up so many issues, thought they did a good job on making it.

It's called "Print the Standard", about 3d printing, but it goes into issues about Open Source vs. Corporate, growth in a company, relationships, etc. In my opinion, it is a must watch for anyone interested in Open Source, Startups.

I am sure some of you are going to like it too.

'Not enough free disk space' for updates
Posted by: mandoran - 07-31-2015, 02:27 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (7)

I've encountered a problem with regular updates for LL 2.4 - I am supposedly 21.2 MB short on "disk /boot" for an 82.8MB download and despite following instructions (emptying trash and running sudo apt-get clean) the update insists the lack of space remains.

What can I do?
