Linux Lite now packages and offers the Tor Web Browser for both 32bit and 64bit.

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install tor-web-browser

Menu, Internet, Tor Web Browser.

  Dual monitor setup problem
Posted by: mandoran - 06-10-2015, 09:58 PM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (2)

Have just developed an odd problem on a laptop running Linux Lite 1.6. I have been using it as my main PC but want to demote it soon, so detached it from my external monitor. For some reason now, I cannot get a display on the PC screen - if I detach it, on startup it displays normally, but after login goes to a dark screen with an immobile cursor on the extreme left-hand side. This is as if it is still starting up thinking it is the right hand side display (which it was), despite being detached from the external monitor, and freezing since there is no main display. I have removed the two monitor setup from the startup routine (which uses ArandR), but this has had no effect on the PC. If I restart with the monitor attached, it runs as it always did, fine, despite the startup routine being removed. The session isn't saved, so it isn't that either.

Is there a simple way to remind my laptop that it is an individual again?

linux mounts what it wants, when it wants
Posted by: tigertye - 06-10-2015, 01:45 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (9)

my linux is mounting my dvd drive without me telling it to. doesn't happen every time i use linux but most. usually a half hour or so after boot. it recently started mounting one of my hd partitions too. what's up with this?

i use linux for web access as it is safer than the windows that i require for my games. this self mounting is kind of defeating the purpose if i am not at my desk to see it happen....

Technically, I don't think it matters too much since the download iso

  Skype auto-start with system
Posted by: Cookee - 06-09-2015, 01:11 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (1)

firsttime user on Lite,
I'm very impressed with L-Lite, it is incredibly fast. I recommend it to all.

Question: In the Skype preferences I can't find the option; "auto-start with system".
I wondered, does linux, for safety reasons NOT allow an auto-start of Skype?
Or have I missed an option?

cheers, Cookee

  Unknown Error & System Report
Posted by: JmaCWQ - 06-08-2015, 07:03 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (10)

Hello All,

Using LL2.0

Anyone know what this error below means?
Noticed it a few times over the last week or so, appears to be random but becoming more frequent, not really sure what sets it off.
Click Close and it goes away, I've never seen it come back in the same session after closing it, can happen at the beginning, middle or end of a session.
I get the impression reading it something is trying to phone home but it's being blocked causing the error to appear.
No mention of any error in the logs that I can find.

Also the system report appears to have broken, not sure when, sometime between January & now, lol, I realise that's not much help but all that happens is it opens a Terminal window that says "Create System Report" on the top window header (where you double click to maximise or minimise) & in the Terminal window itself the cursor just flashes right at the top left and nothing else happens, left it for half an hour & still nothing.
That window remains unresponsive, no text or commands can be entered manually but it closes ok.

Not sure if the 2 are related or not, just wondering if anyone might have an idea or can suggest something I can try to track what's going on.

Thanks

Last system report attached, old one from January this year, last time I did one.

Just picked up an Acer C720. Installed xubuntu through crouton but would prefer to run Linux Lite. Any plans to release a Chromebook edition?

Thanks!
