[SOLVED] Accidentally deleted volume control icon on panel - how to renistate?
Posted by: m654321 - 12-25-2014, 08:18 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

I inadvertently deleted the volume control icon on the right hand side of the panel at the bottom of the laptop screen.  How do I get this back, as presently I have no way of changing the volume for the music player in LL2.2.

Many thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Mike

Will former LL 3.13 continue to receive updates, and, if not, are they necessary for operation of the os?

  [SOLVED] gvfs-fuse not installed
Posted by: pjpreilly - 12-24-2014, 07:44 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (1)

gvfs-fuse is not installed by default & hence linking to a network volume in terminal is not available. I had to install this package to access the mount point. gvfs is installed by default & this package should also.

Leaf texture fills the screen, a Zebra Swallowtail Caterpillar munching through to reveal the Construct, awaiting your command.

Error: "Enable Auto Login has not been applied"
Posted by: Wirezfree - 12-24-2014, 04:08 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (20)

Hi,

A fresh clean new install of LL 2.2, immediately followed by "Install Updates"
Install all went fine, no errors or warnings during the install.
Carried out all my usual set-up actions, like I have done "many/many" times..

I then went to enable "Auto Login"
Menu > System >Login Settings > "Enable Auto Login"

I get the usual:

then I get prompted for my password, which I enter.
Then after a second or so I get:

and Auto Login does not work.

I have seen the message on Auto Login Bug, but I ran the install updates immediately after install
http://tiny.cc/lightdm-link1

There is another Thread about adding a user in lightdm.conf, which is not present on this install.
Also an indication of creating one manually.

Any suggestions/pointers welcome.

I'm unable to include formatted url links in this post else I get Server Error messages..!!!!

Thanks... Dave

If you install Avira Plugin for Google Chrome , a plugin that warns paw silent infecting websites, so blocking Avira on certain Linux Lite's community sites. It is very likely a false positive, but Linux Lite is probably interested in informing Avira ...?
I have not installed Chrome, but it was one that told it at a Danish forum

[SOLVED] Network 2 pc's with lan cable?
Posted by: mannock - 12-22-2014, 05:44 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (4)

I have 2 pc's in the same room, one linuxlite,  one windows 8 and they network ok using usb dongles through my internet hub. But this is painfully slow for big file transfers pc to pc,  it takes all day to transfer several gigs at less than 2mb second.  So I linked the two machines with a network cable,  had no crossover so put a netgear gs605 switch in the middle.  They will not work through this connection and I have set both pc's to set up ip's automatically.  I'm now wondering if there is a setup procedure for this type of connection,  (ad hoc isn't it?)  Is it best to convert the lan cable to crossover to simplify things or should it work as it is now. When I look at my windows 8 adaptor status it says it is sending data but not receiving any. Not sure how to do the same on linuxlite.  When I ask windows 8 to diagnose it's network connection it says
"Ethernet doesn't have a valid ip configuration"  But when I look at the settings for ip4 it is on auto on both machines.  And if I set it to manual, after I've entered 192.168.1.80 and 255.255.255.0 what do I put in the gateway fields?  Surely a direct connection would not need a gateway like it does with the internet hub connection. I will not be using the lan connection for internet as both machines work ok wirelessly.  phew
