  Waking using External Wireless Keyboard
Posted by: jscott0502 - 10-23-2014, 03:33 PM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (1)

I am completely new to Lunix so please bare with me.  I have taken an 2007ish Dell Inspiron 640M and loaded linux lite on it for use as a computer to hook up and leave with our TV.  So far loving Linux Lite - easy install and easy setup for everything I need this to be able to do except I can't get it to come out of "Suspend" using the power button on the external keyboard, it comes out of suspend fine using the power on the actual laptop.  I have gone into the Bios and updated it to enable wakeup via USB but this didn't fix it, I assume there must be additional configuration but have been unable to find it.  I did look through/search the forum before posting.  Any help would  be great!

Thanks!

I am looking to install a Photo program that requires Adobe air first. Is there a trick to installing Adobe air on Lite or is it just not supported?

  [SOLVED] Resizing extended partition
Posted by: bobw - 10-21-2014, 07:31 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (5)

I have a dual-boot arrangement with LL2.0 (32bit) and Windows Vista on a laptop, and I'm trying to increase the size of the LL partition using GParted.  A screenshot of the current partition structure is attached.

I have already reduced the size of the Windows partition (/dev/sda3), to create 29GB of unallocated space adjacent to /dev/sda4, which I want to add to the LL partition, /dev/sda6.  The Gparted Manual says "If you are growing a logical partition, then the unallocated space must be within the extended partition" and "You can move unallocated space to be inside or outside of the extended partition by resizing the extended partition boundaries".

When I select the /dev/sda6 partition, the Resize/Move option in GParted's Partition menu is available, but I can't make the partition bigger, as expected.  However, when I select the /dev/sda4 extended partition, the Resize/Move option is greyed-out, so I can't extend it into the unallocated space.

I have tried booting from a live CD so that the hard drive is unmounted, but it makes no difference.

Any suggestions, please?

[SOLVED] 32 bit or 64 bit Linux Lite?
Posted by: ChrisL - 10-21-2014, 12:27 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (7)

The computer in question is a Gateway laptop MX6426 with AMD TURION 64 Mobil Technology ML-40 processor; 2.19 GHz 1 Gb RAM.  Currently running Windows XP SP3 Media Center Edition which is 32 bit.

I believe the processor is 64 bit, but if so why would they put a 32 bit system on it at the factory?

If I dual boot Linux Lite, would I be better off with 32 bit or 64 bit OS?  Pros/Cons?

Any thoughts appreciated, the 32/64 bit thing is pretty vague to me.  Thanks!

Chris

Where can one find actual name of Application?
Posted by: rbdflyboy - 10-20-2014, 06:15 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (7)

Did a screenshot today and sent it to the Clipboard. Can't find the Clipboard. Application Finder requires the proper App name to find it. Had the same problem with Image Viewer until finding the proper App name. Please, where/how does one find a proper/actual Application name? Did a search here and found info on how to remove whisker menu items (Very Helpful), only, there were no Clipboard files located in ~/.local/share/applications nor in /etc/skel/.local/share/applications/.  Thanks in advance.
