Unable to boot live, use compatibility mode or do a direct install.
Posted by: deejaypg1 - 12-16-2022, 06:36 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - No Replies

Hi, i'm having a bit of a issue installing or running live session of Linux Lite 6.2, when i choose any of the 3 options Live, Compatibility Mode or do a Direct Install.
Straight after i select one of the options i get a black screen with a blinking "_" cursor.

I'm running:
CPU: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 631 supporting HT Technology, 2M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB (It supports 64bit)
RAM:2gb.

The funny thing is when booting into MX Linux 21.2.1 (64bit) it boots up completely fine.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated  Smile

Edit: Linux Lite 5.8 is booting fine thou. mmmm might be problem with kernel?

Thunderbird disaster upgrade 91 to 102
Posted by: rdesalis - 12-16-2022, 02:13 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (1)

Any ideas if the linux lite repository permits a re-install of thunderbird 91.x.x, rather than
accepting tbird 102?

No flatpaks, no snaps, just a .deb file.

I have backups of all the user stuff, and I could at a push, got back to the last ISO,
but I would really like to avoid that.....

Many Thanks for reading this far

Linux sees, adds my printer but can not find it when I try to print to it.
Posted by: Daryl Lakes - 12-14-2022, 07:16 PM - Forum: Printing and Scanning - Replies (2)

I am trying to use my wireless Canon LBP6230dw. Linux 'sees' it and adds it but when I try to print to it, it says that the printer is not found.
I then downloaded the Linux driver from Canon and it's the same, it sees it, and has the correct name but says it's missing when I try to print to it.
I can print to it without issue from Windows 11. It is on the same wireless network as my router/cable internet.

Any idea how to make Linux find a printer it already sees?
Thanks!

ACPI BIOS Error y ACPI Error
Posted by: Antonio - 12-14-2022, 02:30 AM - Forum: Spanish [Spanish] - Replies (1)

Code:
[    0.529678] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): \_SB.PCI0._OSC: Excess arguments - ASL declared 5, ACPI requires 4 (20210730/nsarguments-162)
Code:
[    0.529855] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0._OSC.CAPD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20210730/dsfield-184)
Code:
[    0.529868] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, CreateBufferField failure (20210730/dswload2-477)
Code:
[    0.529940] ACPI Error: Aborting method \SB.PCI0._OSC due to previous error (AE_ALREADY_EXISTS) (20210730/psparse-529)

:beamup

  Linux Lite 6.x in Hyper-V
Posted by: trinidad - 12-13-2022, 07:24 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (1)

Anybody here running LL 6.x in Hyper-V on windows 10/11 ? Ubuntu 22 gnome does run okay for me on HV, but I like to be careful with my Windows server, fairly new i7 machine. Too big of a cleanup when stuff goes wrong with MS and the HV installer black screened on me with LL 6.x.

Installing an ancient ninja game from a .tar file
Posted by: Chompo - 12-13-2022, 06:11 PM - Forum: Games Support - No Replies

Hello there. I am finding it very difficult to install this ancient ninja game that seems to be available for Linux as a .tar file only. It doesn't help that all tutorials I could find mention .tar.gz files exclusively, but of course, I tried to follow them nonetheless (even making changes as I thought appropriate), to no avail (obviously, else I wouldn't be here). I have also tried following Help Manual's instructions, but I always get the message "No such file or directory" upon entering "./configure" instead of a list of dependencies. I feel like this shouldn't be so difficult. There must be some detail I'm overlooking, some stupid thing I am doing wrong.

As an aside, I have  looked into tarballs generally, what they are, what they eat, how they reproduce, etc, but unsurprisingly, understanding the issue conceptually isn't enough to find the magic terminal words that will instal my silly little game. I have learned a lot of Linux and open source related stuff since installing Linux Lite over a year ago, but am still a super mega noob, so I'd like to use this as an opportunity to learn a bit more. For instance, I'd like to know what the difference between .tar and .tar.gz files is (I've also come across .taz and tar.xz while looking for tutorials, no idea what these are either).

So much as a hint on where to look for a solution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Wlan wird vom Laptop nicht mehr erkannt
Posted by: Peter Fietz - 12-13-2022, 04:12 PM - Forum: Introductions - No Replies

Hallo zusammen!
