Hello everyone. My name is Jim and I just downloaded and installed Linux Lite. I feel like a fish out of water. I can't even figure out how to install a program that isn't already in the system. I was wondering if there might be a good tutorial to watch to figure this all out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Have a great day!
Jim

Bug in reverting the menu

I clicked on the revert button to reset my menu - but it did not go back to the original state as it was during and after installation. Instead, the "Install Updates" disappeared and the icons for the first 3 submenus for System went missing.

Install Updates - Terminal

:-\ After reading post about users losing their menu items, Linux Lite installed modified desktop, and warnings from Valtam about resetting menu I wonder about the Install Updates - Terminal. Some of the updates I can see are from Jerry Bezencon (Valtam) but some but some are from Ubuntu and some I do not reconize. Are all updates offered by this program from or screened by the Linux Lite Development Team; therefore, safe to do?
I no longer even ask Synaptic to check for update dues to be concerned about messing up Linux Lite.

Version Lock Does Not Work With a dist-upgrade

Hi,
In Synaptic Software manager I lock a version of gqview, it appears red in Synaptic and seems to indicate it's locked. But when I do a dist-upgrade it updates to geeqie and newer version of gqview.
Is there away when I run upgrade to skip the "upgrade" for gqview or block anything named geeqie?

Sudoku

This is a weird problem and probably not what is really intended by "games support" but I had installed sudoku and it worked a couple of times but now it just doesn't respond when I click on it. i googled it and saw some people had a similar problem but supposedly it was fixed in the latest version. Any ideas? I can see launchpadintegration on the installed list, but this is the error I get when I run the command in the terminal:
Quote:ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for LaunchpadIntegration
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/games/gnome-sudoku", line 23, in <module>

File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gnome_sudoku/gnome_sudoku.py", line 21, in start_game

[CLOSED]Software Update - Now Missing From Menu

Hi,
When I 1st installed I'm sure there was the Software Update item in the Menu below run program..?
Actually looking at the on-line manual, that shows "Install Updates" & "Help Manual"
It seems to have disappeared.? I have "Web Browser" & "Mail Reader"
I have done no edits to menu, only changed clock to 24hr mode, and added date.
What did it point at(file) maybe I can re-create/add it back.?
UPDATE: #1
It appears(I think) that the "Names" (Descriptions) changed..??
The item that says "Mail Reader" is pointing at:
Code: xdg-open /usr/share/doc/xfce4-utils/html/C/index.html
The item that says "Web Browser" is pointing at:
Code: lxterminal --geometry=95x25 -e ./updates
Working Directory = /usr/scripts
So I could change the "Names" , But why did they change..??
UPDATE: #2
After another test, in Virtualbox, It appears changing Locale from US to GB causes the change
Thanks ... Dave
