This is a little event we do on the LDC forums, so we spread the love to this forum! Post away! Screenshots have to be strictly Linux Lite.

  Intel 82846/GL Chipset

Hi,

I just recently installed Linux Lite on my old Dell GX260.  I was having trouble with bootup, but did the "nomodeset" workaround to get going and it worked fine.  It boots up and I have access and can use everything, but the resolution is only 640x480 and there is no option to improve it.  I tried to used the driver installer from the Intel site, but I get an "Error: Dependency is not satisfyable - libglib 2.0-0 (>=2.37.3)"

Is there a way to increase the resolution or an avenue someone can suggest for fixing the issue?

Thanks,
Chris

  CPU jumping to 100% Usage
Posted by: apakhe - 03-09-2014, 12:12 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

Hello there!
Recently I got this issue that I can't figure out how to fix it. Sometimes, my CPU goes up to 100% usage(out of nowhere) and then a strange beeping sound comes out of my PC. Why is that?
That thing pops up when I am playing WoW or when I am simply surfing the web... And I don't think that WoW or Firefox can use that much CPU juice.

My system specs are:
Intel Pentium 4 631 HT 3.00Ghz
2 Gb RAM
Nvidia GT220 1 Gb Video Card
160 Seagate ATA HDD

Can you help me with it? Thank you!

It's nice to see a user forum without 50,000 posts.
You can't break this OS. It's amazing.
I've run literally every Linux since Stormix ( but never stunk up YooT00b with it).
This is the best I've run since the old Xandros daze.

Icons in Panel are left-justified and won't move to the right...
Posted by: Peter B - 03-08-2014, 11:26 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (4)

Hi there

I've just switched from Windows XP to Linux Lite (1.0.8 Amethyst 32-Bit) and so far most things are fine...except for one unusual problem that I can't solve.
The Date and Time, Volume, Battery Indicator and Network Icons are appearing on the left of my Panel, next to the Menu Button.
I've tried the "move and drag" method to shift them to the right, but they immediately slide back to their original positions on the left.
Could anyone help, please?

  Broadcom install locking up
Posted by: Jeff - 03-07-2014, 01:41 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (3)

Hi all,

My first attempt at installing Linux Lite went well, until my wireless decided not to work. Now this laptop was given to me. I bought a new HDD and it runs like a champ. The model in question is a Dell 1545. A few years old but enough for what i need it for. So far i have installed Ubuntu/Xubuntu/ and have had zero issues with the wireless until now. Linux Lite really has my interest and i would like to keep it on the laptop. But, When trying to install drivers for the wireless through the Install Drivers tab. i end up with this screen that locks the whole thing up. I know more information will be needed. But that will have to wait until i can get home and back to the laptop.

  Forums are back

After hours of sifting through the backend and many many tests later, the culprit has been found. Seems our custom WYSIWYG editor was the cause of the Quote and Preview issue. I've removed the custom WYSIWYG editor until such time as I find a better one that doesn't interfere with forum operation.

If you had a custom avatar you will need to add it again, that was the only casualty here Smile

I like screenshot threads - and it looked as though this one might need a little attention Wink  So here's my current desktop:

Nothing exceptional, really, but I like it.  This is a Dell Inspiron D830, 4G RAM, Intel Core2 Duo.
Wallpaper is available HERE (if you like books and libraries check these out).
