[How To] make screen blank and lock?
Posted by: ?XO - 02-09-2022, 11:18 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (1)

I am back on my linux lite laptop, and want to run it 24/7, the issue i have is on windows i used to lock screen with (power button + L) which i was able to lock, as it was already in shortcuts. But another thing i was having on windows was pressing the power button only to turn off screen as it is always on, after pressing super + L screen goes black but i can still see screen backlight. i tried to make shortcut for making screen blank i was unable to use it with power button, and other keys were able to turn of screen when i was logged in not on lock screen. How can i do it?

Posted by: Johan van de Sande - 02-08-2022, 10:22 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (2)

I installed the software succesfully however i coudn't choose Keyboard belgium/belgium and have to choose French azerty which did not comply fully with my keyboard. So I changed the keyboard settings in etc/default/keyboard into Belgium. 'be' After this rebooting and i could login with my password great done i thought :| The next day I have not a login screen so it opens fully Smile but installing software using sudo in terminal (ALT+CTRL+F2) it never worked again i can not using the password. Even if i use the french settings in  the keyboard manager nothing worked to set and upĝrade the software using sudo or gsudo in normal screen. The password is oké even in the French keyboard was this still the same. But now lol it isnt working anymore and i am sure the password is great and oké. So something during install the Belgium option is not there :|

Problemas instalando aplicaciones y con las carpetas
Posted by: Carles Lacambra Peroy - 02-07-2022, 05:22 PM - Forum: Spanish [Spanish] - Replies (1)

Buenas!

  Wifi unavailable
Posted by: Username Ace - 02-07-2022, 03:58 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (9)

I need assistance with connecting my laptop to the internet via Wifi.

I recently installed Linux Lite on my computor from it's Ubuntu operating system. The wifi would connect properly without problem on it's previous operating, however,  I cannot connect to the internet via wifi unless it's through the Ethernet cable.

I ran this command "nmcli d" in the terminal which showed that through the Ethernet, I can access the internet, whilst the wifi status remains unavailable.

I also ran this command "lshw -c network" so that I can figure out the hardware adapter, so that I can update the driver. But, it does not show the hardware name for the wifi adapter.

Any assistance will help me out a lot.

  Windows 7 the undead
Posted by: trinidad - 02-06-2022, 04:54 PM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

Did anyone else notice during the Winter Olympics opening ceremony there was a brief display of the old Windows 7 multi lingual greeting wallpaper on the giant screen there. Don't know if it was a glitch, or if some kind of weird propaganda ploy, or the show programmers were not very creative, or perhaps Chinese MS software and IT is that much out of date. I know they have their own state approved version of MS Windows so it seems weird that they would choose that wallpaper to be part of the show. Maybe BG conned them into a Buick and they think it's a Ferrari.

  New LL 5.6 user
Posted by: TheBaldOne - 02-03-2022, 10:13 PM - Forum: Introductions - No Replies

Hello new LL 5.6 user here.  Trying to switch from Lubuntu to Linux lite for our image we use for company PCs.  It is really working very well on our older hardware, but I am running into issues when creating a master image to put on the other hardware and I am not sure where to post my questions.  Here are the issues I am running into and if you tell me where to post for help that would be much appreciated.

I set the desktop background to a custom jpg and then create a new image file.  Install this image onto another piece of hardware, but the desktop background reverts back to the original Linux-Lite-Wave-and-Rounds-Gradient-Blues-1080p.png.  Funny thing is at the login screen it has the correct background, but as soon as I log in with our user it changes the background image.

Another issue I seem to be having is that the screensaver/enable lock screen doesn't seem to be working.  It works on the original hardware, but when I put this image on another computer it doesn't seem to lock when it should  I did just find another post about a similar issue and will try changing the display blank after minutes to larger than the screensaver timeout.

Thanks,
TBO

  Virtual Keyboard
Posted by: ozaarm - 02-03-2022, 09:31 AM - Forum: On Topic - No Replies

Hello Friends,
I'm new to Linux Lite. I read some old posts about virtual keyboards but couldn't find what I wanted. On a Mac or on Ubuntu, one can set virtual keyboards : type with a Spanish layout even if your keyboard is a US QWERTY.

I found the keyboard settings menu, added Spanish but now how do I switch btw native and virtual ?
1. on Mac or Ubuntu I'm used to a little icon (like on Ubuntu or Mac) to switch
2.  on Mac or Ubuntu there is a key combination to switch

Any way to do 1 or 2 or both on Linux Lite ?

Thanks

P
