  How to re-use LVM from 4.8 in 5.4..

Hi All!  I want to move to LL5.4 from LL4.8 and would like to break as little as possible in the process.

I have a 3.8TB LVM block device (Ext4, v1.0) mounted at /home, and another 1.2 TB block device at /media/backups. Current filesystem root is on a 240GB SSD.  There's a spare (unmounted) 120GB SSD available too.

1. Will the LL5.4 install recognise the existing block devices properly / safely and enable me to re-use them without me having to restore huge amounts of data from backups onto new lvm block device(s)?
2. Should I install the new LL5.4 as a dual boot on the spare 120GB SSD?  ...or can I safely install the LL5.4 on the 240GB SSD, wiping the LL4.8?
3. Could/should I consider creating an LVM 360GB SSD block device combining the two SSD's, and install on top of that?  What's the best way of doing that?

After 36 days of being logged out i get this error log. The update status is green and from start linux displays 83/85 updates are required.

  micro SD cards not recognized

I have Linux Lite 5.2 installed on a Lenovo Ideapad 100s 14 inch notebook. After installation micro SD cards are not recognized, but they were recognized previously under Windows. I've tried 3 different cards, all of which are recognized on other PCs, so I'm sure that it's not the cards.

lspci shows the following:

00:12.0 SD Host controller: Intel Corporation Atom/Celeron/Pentium Processor x5-E8000/J3xxx/N3xxx Series SD Controller (rev 21)

Any ideas on how I can get Linux Lite to recognize micro SD cards ?

  XFCE Weather Plugin Data Unavailable

Out of the blue, the weather plugin on my panel has suddenly quit displaying the weather.

I have not changed the setup for the plugin since I installed Linux Lite a year ago.

I opened the properties and it was set to my location, I re-added the location - which it found but the icon continuously says "No Data"

Any suggestions?

I did an update today and restarted as directed, it stalled out on a blank screen with the feather logo.
And when I try to boot up I stall out on the same blank screen with the feather logo.  It won't go any further.

I have a little problem.
I'm quite new to the Linux world and am increasingly fascinated by it. I have so far tried Linux Mint and Ubuntu but two of my "normal computer" and went without a hitch.

I have so far tried three versions on the 32bit "scrap computers" installed:
1) Linux Mint: I found it super nice, but the computer was very slow and unusable
2) Lubuntu: I did not find so beautiful from the graphics rather, also the computer was still running a little slow
3) Linux Lite: so far my favorite for the PC, but unfortunately the installation crashes at some point and it just doesn't work = (

Does any of you have experience in this regard and can recommend something useful to save this little PC? I might want to sell it as it works or give it away, maybe a grandpa or child can be happy to use it for school, for social media or for emails.

¿Cómo sé si mi PC con Windows tiene UEFI?

En la búsqueda de Windows, escriba msinfo o msinfo32e inicie la aplicación de escritorio denominada Información del sistema. Busque el elemento del modo BIOS, y si el valor es UEFI, entonces tiene el firmware UEFI. Si dice BIOS Modo heredado, entonces ese es el firmware que está ejecutando.

Se admite el arranque seguro, pero a menos que sepa exactamente cómo manejarlo, puede ser un dolor de cabeza y causante de molestias no deseadas, por lo que se recomienda deshabilitar el arranque seguro para evitar este tipo de inconvenientes.

Problemas conocidos:

No hay un mensaje para expulsar los medios al final de la instalación heredada, el mensaje está disponible en el final de la instalación de UEFI.
Notas de la versión: no funciona en la primera diapositiva del instalador.
Iconos de escritorio: solo soporte en inglés.
Grub: mantener presionada la tecla Mayús mientras se inicia en modo UEFI no abre el menú Grub (funciona en modo Heredado), esperando la corrección de Ubuntu.
El menú de Grub muestra Linux Lite como 'Ubuntu'. Después de instalar Linux Lite, puede cambiar Grub para que muestre 'Linux Lite':

- Edite el archivo /etc/default/grub como administrador.
- Comentar: GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR = `lsb_release -i -s 2> / dev / null || echo Debian` y dejar GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR = 'Linux Lite' sin comentar.
