First time I've seen this error - any suggestions?

After attempting an update today a message popped up that said to post the log into the forum

The only ugly incidence within the installation was that my keyboard layout was destroyed. The character on the right side were  all numbers like for numlog keys. My password was nadja1a and this did work with the keys.

  Go away, Year 2020!!!
Posted by: Swamp Rat - 01-01-2021, 04:04 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (2)

Where I live, there are only minutes left before this dismal year 2020 gets relegated to the dustbin or septic tank of history. This is one year that I will NOT miss leaving. In cartoons, the old year is depicted as a tired old man and the new year as a smiling infant. The old man for 2020 should be depicted as beat up and barely hanging on to life. This year's new baby should have a look of terror.

Actually, although life was anything but "normal" for me, it really wasn't all that bad compared to what others experienced. I successfully avoided contracting COVID-19 or any other serious affliction so far. Since I am retired, I had no job to lose, as many others did. And I did begin using Linux Lite. So I will take this opportunity to wish all here and elsewhere a

Reboot needed to restore USB audio
Posted by: oldwood - 12-31-2020, 03:52 PM - Forum: Sound - Replies (16)

Hi everyone,

I am new to Linux Lite. I have it installed on a Asus laptop and I am using USB out to a Emotiva XDA-2 DAC for music. It works well but in the evening I turn off the DAC and  in the morning I need to reboot in order to get the OS to find the USB audio channel.

Is there a CMD I can use to re-scan for the USB audio output? I have tried re-plugging the USB cable but that does not work.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Multiple install fails. Grub and boot problems on Lenovo 100S-14IBR
Posted by: baccusboy - 12-28-2020, 09:05 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (9)

Hello friends,

Linux user for a few years, with some basic knowledge only, here.

I have an older Lenovo 100S-14IBR which originally came with a slimmed-down version of Windows.  After a year or two, Windows actually became too big for it, so I decided to try Linux.  I was unable to install anything, but somehow it would allow Ubuntu to install and run on for the past few years.  I believe there was some form of "protection" inside of this laptop to keep people from easily installing anything but Windows.

I recently decided to change to Linux Lite because Ubuntu was becoming too slow.  As I feared, I have been unable to install anything back on.  Not even Ubuntu, after Linux Lite seemed not to take.  In the process, I messed-up GRUB pretty bad.  I believe I fixed GRUB, but I now have multiple failed remnants of install attempts of various things that show up in my boot list.  Nothing on the list will boot.  I have used DiskPart to wipe the drive clean, and reinstalled Linux Lite, but it will not boot.  (I do not need to save anything on this computer, and will be happy to start fresh).

Following some previous Forum threads, I have created a pastbin upload, which resides at:  https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/VzbbjCm6n4/

Can anyone help me with how to get this fresh install of Linux Lite running?  I have messed with every setting in BIOS that I can think of to try to emulate what allowed me to shoehorn Ubuntu onto this machine a few years ago.

Thoughts and help much appreciated!
