  Customize powerline terminal prompt
Posted by: Moltke - 12-02-2020, 02:12 AM - Forum: Desktop Customization - Replies (2)

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! Smile

How can I customize the powerline terminal prompt? i.e. change the theme. I've been reading a bit of the official docs https://powerline.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html but not sure where to start from. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance for your answers.

P.S: I'd also like to know what the error/number codes (127, 5) mean, where can I get that info?

I have a driver for an ethernet to USB so I can have download speed >10/100  I have the driver, but do not have a clue how to go about the install.  Esecially about making sure I have the right Kernel.  I looked at the readme file, but am kind of a newbie with linux.  The folder with all of the necessitues is attached unless I need a different kernel.

I have no clue how to "manually" do anything. Any help would be appreciated.

  restore duplicity backup
Posted by: MarRic - 11-30-2020, 06:22 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (14)

Motherboard failed DELLxps13 :'( . I had done a full backup 2 months prior with deja-dup (duplicity). I am unable to restore from deja-dup. When I select the external drive and folder from the restore button it says “No backups to restore”. There are 416 volumes listed in the manifest (opened with text editor). Everything is there – I just can’t get to it. Also tried several terminal commands found on the web from different sources but nothing is working – possibly because I am not replacing things in the command correctly – it is 2 years of data I would like to get back.
I also pulled the hard drive from xps13 and used a usb SSD case hoping to be able to pull my data that way, but it doesn’t “load” and if I use the “disk” function, it sees it but says “no Media”.
Can anyone help? Or if there is another forum that would be better to ask on, please advise. Thank you.

  UEFI 32 bit
Posted by: filip750 - 11-30-2020, 04:49 PM - Forum: UEFI Secure Boot - Replies (3)

Hi i have the low cost carry trail atom x5 capable of 64 bit os with 4Gb of RAM, but i have the problem of installing linux lite or even booting from live media as this  kind of laptops have 32 bit Uefi and will not recognize 64 bit Uefi. There is a tool respiniso that can correct  that but i do not have 2 PC to install and then respin. I am wondering if you can implement 32 bit efi boot for this kind of PC's. There is already the 32 bit efi on the iso but  is not pointing to the boot image it only boots in grub. This is fine but on the non English keyboard and screen sideways is difficult to type commands. Can you at lest give me right command for the grub to boot the system?

  Remove A Style
Posted by: lc6529 - 11-28-2020, 02:55 PM - Forum: Installing Software - No Replies

Last week I installed a Style in Linux Lite and it does not work well at all so I would like to remove it.

How can you REMOVE a style?

It's truly not a big deal to leave it installed but I am trying to learn as much as I can and would like to learn how to uninstall a style.

What I was trying to do was see if I could get a style that looks like LinuxFX, I run that on my laptop but I really prefer the simplicity of Linux Lite so I do not want to remove it from my main PC.

  Cant change resolution
Posted by: Mel_B - 11-27-2020, 10:11 PM - Forum: Video Cards - Replies (1)

When I try to change resolution the screen tears and is all garbled. Here is my INXI I am sure it is a driver. I have had this problem with debian not detecting my Built in the cpu graphics. A non free firmware solved the problem. I do not have this problem with Ubuntu or mint.

evdev for right click emulation on a touchscreen, but how do I install it?
Posted by: d0ugparker - 11-26-2020, 08:03 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (1)

I can't figure out what needs to be done to compile and install evdev:

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions...ation-xfce

I did a sudo apt install to install evdev-tools, but something's still missing... some .h file, somewhere.

Can anyone help?
