Problem with Cron

I'm still trying to nail down the problem and hopefully someone can help me.
When I run my code from the terminal, it works. When it is run from Cron, there is no recording. The file is created but when I open it, nothing. No sound, and the file size stays at 44k. When I run from the terminal, I can see the file size increasing when I look at it from a thunar window.
Any idea what is going on and what I should do?
This is the code I am using:
Code: arecord -t wav -f cd -d 44 /home/randy/chuo-radio-shows/testaudioJUN0514.wav
I also enclosed my sysinfo if this helps.

I've worked out how to setup a launcher on the desktop and how to assign an icon to it.
Question I'd like to ask is where are the icon folders and can I add some of my own and in what format if I can.
Thanks

I understand the need to update regularly using the Install Updates link in main menu. Is this all that is required to keep system up to date or should I also update via Synaptics too? Just wondered.

Simple Solution - Installing Firestarter in Linux Lite 2.0

After installing Linux Lite 2.0, I noticed that "Firestarter" was missing from Synaptic Package Manager nor will you find it in the new Install Additional Software program. Firestarter is a nifty little firewall program that installs with a graphical wizard. The Linux newbie can set it and forget it, yet it offers advanced features that the experienced Linux user will appreciate.
Here's an easy way to get this program installed--
Point your browser to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Firestarter
Go to 3rd paragraph down where you'll see, "Installation must now be done by obtaining and installing the .deb package manually, retrievable from the Raring repositories for either the 32-bit (i386) version here or the 64-bit (amd64) bit version here."
Click the word "here" based on whether you're running a 32-bit or 64-bit computer and then select a download mirror on the page that opens in your browser window. Make sure you select, "Open with gdebi-gtk" and you're good to go.

[SOLVED] Keyboard problem - Acer Netbook

Acer A0751h netbook.
The installation worked but the keyboard mapping is screwed up in a weird way. My password contains a zero and I'm able to log in. Once logged in however, the keyboard mapping is changed so that "0" is now "/" unless the FN key is pressed. I tried a couple alternate keyboard mappings (The Acer Netbook is not listed) without success.
Also, apparently there's no video accelleration for the Intel chipset so that videos don't run smoothly. They run fine on the old XP OS.
Too bad, since the OS seems pretty interesting.

Followed the instructions in Help Manual to change password. Got to the point where you are supposed to enter your user name. Did so but received the message "command not recognized". Please advise.
BTW, I'm now running Linux Lite 2.0.
